Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oranges
  • 1 2/3 cups water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • Spices (cinnamon, cloves, star anise)
  • Your preferred chocolate for dipping

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the oranges into rounds about 0.3 inches thick. Optionally, boil them for 5-10 minutes to reduce bitterness.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pot, combine sugar, spices, and water. Add the orange slices and cook on low heat for about 1.5 hours until translucent.
  3. Drain the syrup and place the candied oranges on paper towels to absorb excess moisture.
  4. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and bake at 212°F (100°C) for 15 minutes; flip and bake another 15 minutes.
  5. Once cooled, dip each slice in melted chocolate until well-coated.
