  • 2 tsp black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags)
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat or light)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 34 whole cardamom pods
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 12 tbsp coconut sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and cloves. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add black tea leaves (or tea bags) and steep for 3-5 minutes based on desired strength.
  3. Stir in coconut milk and simmer for another 2-3 minutes to combine flavors.
  4. Adjust sweetness with coconut sugar if desired.
  5. Strain the tea into cups to remove spices and leaves.
  6. Garnish with ground cinnamon or star anise if desired, then serve hot or over ice.
