  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces seasoned with salt and pepper; cook until browned, then set aside.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in the same skillet until fragrant. Add diced carrots and celery; cook until softened.
  4. Return chicken to the skillet and add frozen peas. Sprinkle flour over the mixture; stir well.
  5. Gradually pour in chicken broth and milk while stirring continuously until a simmer is reached.
  6. Add orzo along with thyme and rosemary; cook for 8–10 minutes until tender and thickened.
  7. Pour the mixture into an oven-proof dish and top with rolled-out puff pastry, sealing edges.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
