  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for garlic butter topping)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for garlic butter topping)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garlic butter topping)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan by lightly buttering it.
  2. Melt butter in a small pot and add minced garlic; cook until fragrant. Let cool.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  4. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter to dry ingredients; mix until combined.
  5. Knead on low speed for 10-12 minutes until smooth and soft.
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions; shape into balls and place in prepared pan.
  7. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1-2 hours).
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Brush rolls with egg wash and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, prepare garlic butter topping by melting additional butter with minced garlic; stir in parsley once fragrant.
  10. Brush baked rolls with garlic butter immediately after removing from the oven.
