Instructions

  1. Beat unsalted butter and maple sugar until creamy. Mix in powdered sugar, followed by maple syrup and maple extract.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt; add to the butter mixture until combined into dough.
  3. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling it out to 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Cut shapes using a maple leaf cookie cutter; bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden.
  5. Allow cooling completely before preparing the cream filling by mixing butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
