Ingredients

Scale

  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup softened salted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter (not natural)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 44 chocolate-covered malt balls (for decoration)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (6 ounces)
  • 1 small tube white cake decorating gel

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg, creamy peanut butter, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, form tablespoon-sized dough balls and roll in granulated sugar before placing on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 8 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  8. Immediately press one chocolate-covered malt ball into the center of each cookie. Melt chocolate chips to create spider legs using a piping bag or toothpicks.
  9. Once cooled, use white cake decorating gel to add eyes atop each chocolate-covered malt ball.
