  • 1 1/4 cup cake flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Filling of choice (red bean paste, Nutella, custard, cheese)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cake flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until mixed.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients until just combined.
  3. Preheat taiyaki pan on medium heat and lightly grease it.
  4. Pour about 2-3 tablespoons of batter into one side of the pan. Add filling on top followed by another layer of batter.
  5. Close the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown on one side; flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
