  • 2 to 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • cinnamon for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8-by-8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly before mixing in the egg, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 to 24 minutes until set.
  5. Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 90 minutes before frosting.
  6. For the cream cheese frosting, beat together softened cream cheese, unsalted butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until light and fluffy.
  7. Spread the frosting over cooled bars and garnish with cinnamon before slicing into squares.
