  • Popsicle sticks or wooden skewers

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert a popsicle stick into the top of each apple.
  2. In a saucepan, mix together granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Stop stirring and allow to boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). If desired, add red food coloring and vanilla extract.
  4. Quickly dip each apple into the hot candy mixture until well coated and place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in intervals, then drizzle over cooled candy-coated apples.
