  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for cross)
  • 34 tablespoons water (for cross)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 23 teaspoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until frothy (5–10 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. Add the frothy yeast mixture once ready.
  3. Gradually mix in flour until combined; knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, shape into buns, and place on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes; preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Mix cross ingredients; pipe over buns before baking for 20–22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly before glazing with powdered sugar mixture.
