  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chopped fresh strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for filling)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon light or heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugars, and salt (if using unsalted butter). Add melted butter and vanilla; stir until crumbly.
  3. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the pan; bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. In another bowl, combine strawberries with sugar and flour; spread over the baked crust.
  5. Crumble remaining crust mixture on top; bake for another 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool completely; drizzle with a glaze made from whisking powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla.
